# Edit a Project

The Project lead and Project administrators can edit a Project. Collaborators who only contribute measurements cannot change its configuration.

# Open the builder

  1. Open the Project page.
  2. Use the Project management or edit action to open the builder.
  3. Select the required step from the left-side builder navigation:
    • About
    • Protocols
    • Questions
    • Locations
    • Settings

If the edit or management actions are not visible, the signed-in account does not have Project administration permission.

# Save changes

  • Use Save and Next to save the current step and continue through the builder.
  • Use Save and Close while moving through About, Protocols, Questions, or Locations.
  • Use Save and Finish in Settings to save and return to the Project.
  • In Settings, use Save Settings after changing collaborators or visibility.

Changing a protocol does not rewrite measurements previously collected with another protocol. The data remains associated with the protocol used at collection time.

Avoid changing protocols, question wording, answer choices, units, or sampling locations after collection begins. If a change is necessary, record the effective date, reason, and affected measurements in the study log. Do not reuse an existing answer label with a new meaning; that makes measurements collected before and after the change difficult to distinguish.

# Changing visibility or subscription

The Settings step controls the Project's Vault, Canopy, or Archive state. Review the trial, billing, privacy, and collection effects before saving a change.

Archiving stops new collection and removes the Project from mobile and desktop collection lists while retaining prior measurements online. Review the access and billing notices displayed by the application before archiving or reactivating a Project.

Existing collection teams

Tell active collectors before changing protocols, questions, locations, access, or visibility. Synchronize the mobile and desktop apps after the change and before collecting more measurements.
