# Create an Account
A valid email address is required to create a PhotosynQ account. An account provides access to authorized Projects, Project-team forums, applications, Protocols, Macros, and data tools. A compatible instrument is required to collect instrument measurements.
# Signing up
- Navigate to the PhotosynQ website (https://photosynq.org (opens new window)) and select sign up (opens new window) from the top menu.
- Enter your name, institution/organization (optional) and biography (optional).
- Add a photo that will be used as an avatar (optional).
- Add your email address and password you want to use for the account. They serve as the login across the PhotosynQ platform.
- Check your email for a confirmation.
- Click on the confirmation link and your account has been activated and can be used.
- Now go back to the website or app and sign in (opens new window).
Use Click here to resend on the registration page if confirmation instructions do not arrive.
Tip
Adding an organization, biography, and profile photo helps Project administrators and team members identify your account.
# Troubleshooting
- Make sure that you are connected to the internet!
- Sometimes the confirmation emails end up in your spam folder. Make sure to check it first.
